Me + Interior Design

Hi everyone, my name is Vivian Murillo and I am currently an Interior Design student at The Art Institute of Tampa. Let me start off by telling you a little bit about myself. I was born in Los Angeles, California to two loving Colombian parents. Born in a Hispanic home I learned to speak, read, and write Spanish first, so the first few years of life i struggled with English. When I turned 13 my life changed drastically, when my family decided to move across the country to Florida. The reason why??..I have to say till this day I really don't know. We were here for 2 years, when once again my family decided to move,.. and now to Phoenix, AZ. Since I had family there, and was closer to my hometown I wasn't to sad about leaving Florida. We were there for only 1 year and i have to say it was the hardest year of my life. My family and I lost one of my brothers to a car accident. A month later my older brother was deployed to Iraq. It was a hard year for me.

Once again, another move came along and I came back to Florida. In 2006 i graduated from High School. I really didn't know what to do at that point. I had seen my two older brothers take paths that I didn't want to end up in. I began to think what i liked to do with my life, and i realized how much love I had for design. Throughout my years I had moved and been in so many environments, that I would analyze spaces and begin to think how a space could work better. I realized how everyone would ask me for help in little things as changing a room around to work better for them. So although I wasn't sure, I took the chance and enrolled into college. I became the first in my family to go to college.

In 2007 i enrolled at The Art Institute of Tampa for a Bachelors Degree in Interior Design. Although school has been tuff for me and I've had many reasons to quit, I know its my passion and of course a great accomplishment in my life.In the years I've been at school, I've learned so much. I've learned  the creative process it takes to produce an interior space that fulfills my project goals. And for that I have to thank all my teachers. I've definitely have to say I view this world so much different than what did. Now a mom, and a wife I plan to finish the last 3 quarters of school, and hope to succeed for me and my family.
